I've been a bad, bad girl...

So my writing, scratch that ALL my art outlets have gone by the waste side lately including this blog. I am making a commitment to MYSELF to make more time for me and the things I like to do!
I LOVE my husband and my sons with all my heart but I have been on the go 24/7 for them lately. I have not made any time for myself to do...well to do just about anything.

I, Michelle Dumas vow to put some more time into me, starting today:

I will read.
I will journal.
I will write.
I will take photo's not related to documenting my kids or our families lives.
I will scrapbook.
I will work on one of the million projects I have set aside to "do later".

I will blog! : )

Blogger Slacker

Just call me Blogger Slacker-that is my new name! In my defense March has been a pretty busy month-but then again when is it not busy juggling the dynamic duo and the darling daddy?

Our busy March in a nutshell:

1. First and foremost we celebrated Connor and Braden's third birthday on March 11 at Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg Va. Happy Birthday boys!
We had the best time-could not have asked for a better trip our way to celebrate their special day with them. GWL truly is a wonderful place for a family of all ages vacation. If you ever get the chance to experience it I highly recommend it. We are already planning our return trip!

2. In addition to his normal schedule Mike:
-had five days of court this month
-worked four varsity games to keep the kids from well killing each other
-spent five nights at HN (a rough apartment complex)
-attended one mandatory meeting about department morale

3. We had a freak "snow storm" if you would like to call it that followed three days later by my kids out playing in their shorts, sandals and shades! Got to love Virginia weather!

4. We spent an afternoon at the Great Bridge Lock Park right here in Chesapeake watching the boats come in and walking the trails. Just because I love to say it Great Bridge Lock Park is located beside Great Bridge Bridge yes we have a bridge called "Great Bridge Bridge"

5. We spent a day at the Virginia Zoo since we did get a membership I suppose we'll be doing a lot of that-but we always have a good time and it sure tires the kids as well as Mom and Dad out!

6. We spent a day at Blue Bird Gap Farm in Hampton Va., since they themselves say it best : "Bluebird Gap Farm offers an exciting, family-oriented adventure and educational experience rarely see in an urban environment. The 60-acre farm has more than 250 domestic and wild animals, including everything from the usual array of farm animals to a bobcat, raccoon, birds of prey, whitetail deer, tortoises, and peacocks." We enjoyed all the animals and having a picnic lunch together out in the woods!

7. We had our last sessions in the "Time For Twos" story time at Greenbrier Library where we learned about Sesame Street and Farms.

8. We moved up (sniff sniff) to the "big" kid story time 3-5's where the boys no longer need Mommy or Daddy to attend with them...they go all by themselves! Last week was their first week and they learned all about dinosaurs.

9. We celebrated St. Patty's-it would be treason to our roots not to! The boys & I got all decked out in our finest greenery and enjoyed a play date of Green Eggs & Ham with their little friends. Mommy even made a green monkey bread which did turn out quite nice despite the fact that it did look like a ball of snot going int he oven!

10. We've been getting the house all decorated for Easter-big surprise I know. I have been called the Decoration Queen from time to time! : ) Mommy has had to work extra hard to have things ready for Easter when we get back from NY as we will be arriving home just in time for the holiday and Mommy is not driving 13 hours to go shopping-"anal annie" is already prepared thank you very much!

11. Now we're just preparing for our trip home to NY to see the family and celebrate the twins birthday with them. How spoiled right? Two birthdays but since they are twins and they ave to share their day i guess it is only fair! For me of course as an OCDer this is a big undertaking which requires hours of prep and planning! My family loves me I swear!

So that has been our month so far...April here we come!

Our Plans for the Third...

I can not believe that in two weeks my babies are going to be three! Where have the past three years gone? How fast are the next three years going to go!?!
We've been busy making plans for their third birthday. On March 11th, their actual birthday we are heading to Williamsburg (about 30-40 mins away) to Great Wolf Lodge an indoor water park resort. They are so excited they can not wait to go "wimm" (swim) in their hotel. They think it is so neat and can not wait to go. We're going to have a Scooby cake out there for them as he is one of their "fravrits" (favorites) right now but I think we're going to do gifts before we head out. Some will not fit in my Blazer or our hotel room for that matter (bikes) and others should not be forced upon unsuspecting strangers (keyboard and drum) I know I am crazy but with the exception of Connor asking for a Fly Boat and Braden begging for a robot since Christmas (yes we got those, too) a keyboard and drum is all they want. I want Excedrin and ear plugs but I don't know if Mike has picked them up for me or not yet-ha ha!
After we come back we'll be getting ready for a trip home to Northern NY for ten days to see all the fam and celebrate back home. The boys painstakingly went through party catalogs and settled on Mickey Mouse as their theme (he's their other "fravrit") so we have been shopping around and picking up all things mouse-they can not wait to party with all their NY buddies-Cadance, Owen, and their cousins Maleya, Ashley & Christina...they have not scene them in awhile and miss them very much!

Freak Snow Storm 2.16.09

Boy oh boy did we get a huge suprise Monday morning-we had been "hit" by a "massive" snow "storm" the night before!
Honestly not even technically an inch or not the twins freaked out-they were so excited to go out and "play" in the "snow" and loved throwing "snow balls" at everyone! Mike was excited to whip out the ice scrapper-a relic from our NY days and he actually "scraped" the "snow" off my Blazer...
The Avenger "covered" in snow...
Mike "scrapping" the Blazer
Mike & the boys running around outside
Connor having a ball
Braden tossing a "snowball" at Daddy

It's all about the heart...

On Wednesday we had Valentine Day Story Time at Greenbrier Library where the boys got to learn all about their new favorite holiday "heart day" and make a really adorable teddy bear Valentine craft.
Braden & Connor with their Valentine Story Time craft
On Thursday we had our play group Valentines Day party. The kiddos all had a great time. They had tons of good food and sweets, played, colored and got some really cute treat bags with Valentines from all their friends!
The Mommies had some great food and sweets : ) and got to spend some adult time chatting while the kiddos played.
Below are pics of the twinadoes in their full Valentine grab showing off their pride and joy their Valentine boxers shorts that Gramma made them!
Also a group shot taken at the party of (most of) the Hampton Roads 2006 Mommies Playgroup.

On Valentines Day Daddy was on days so we waited for him to get home to celebrate. The boys planned dinner-they wanted steak-they love to go out while Daddy grills, salad (Connor was insistent he wanted "crunch") and green beans (Braden was insistent-he's eat them three meals a day everyday if you'd let him!)
They were so excited to get their gifts (some new interactive books) they each also got a little box of chocolates and a lollipop bouquet. They'd made Daddy a Valentine out of their painted hand prints and bought me a small Valentine snow globe with a purple base (my favorite color is purple so anything purple "is for Mommy" as they say!)
Mike & I went clothes shopping together as our Valentine gift for one another-such fun (actually it was nice!)
So we had a very happy "heart day." Braden will tell you that he loves his "gifts for his heart because he is loved".
